Melissa

The baker behind the name

AKA Supreme Leader and Bun Master

We take our job titles very seriously around here. ;-)

Melissa's baking roots come from a tradition of family baking, being surrounded by bakers through her childhood, all making tasty, homely baked treats. Fast forward to motherhood, Melissa would make cinnamon rolls for her family each Christmas (the same ones you can order years later right here). As she started to revive her love for baking, and began to bake for friends and local businesses, Melissa along with her husband Chris, took an interest in what went into the food they were making and eating. It turns out that those delicious treats she would help bake as a child and teen didn't always have the best stuff going into them. Words like 'organic' and 'non-GMO' simply weren't commonplace then.
So after doing their research, they began the switch to organically grown produce and ingredients for their family (find out more about the benefits of organic and all-natural ingredients here).
Now, after selling directly through farmers markets in Southern California, Melissa is bringing her knowledge of baking, of running a business, and doing both with a focus on health and wellbeing, to the rest of the country. Melissa believes in the value of traditionally-baked goods and is passionate about sharing that with anyone who wants a healthier lifestyle for their family. Through her range of guided teaching courses, Melissa wants to empower everyone to Bake It, Don’t Buy It

Nathan

Right-Hand Man & Son-in-law

Main duties:
  • Chief taste tester (so if you don't like how something tastes, then it's his fault!)
  • Chief label printer (if a label isn't straight on your box, it's also his fault)
  • Chief number cruncher (if we run out of stock, yep you guessed it, his fault again)
We love him really, promise!

Matt

Rapid Deployment Officer & Son

Matt wanted to jump on the ‘fancy job title’ bandwagon, and so we ditched ‘Delivery Driver’ for Rapid Deployment Officer. It has a certain… Navy Seals feel to it.
When Covid hit, like most small businesses, Melissa’s main way of selling her product shut down. All her farmers markets were closed. But, as they say, when one door closes, another opens. Specifically, Matt’s car door. Matt, with help from his sister and Nathan’s wife, Hanna, delivered orders to customers all over San Dimas, Glendora, La Verne, and beyond. And with these deliveries, and new business model, Melissa’s Munchies survived.
